115th Annual Boyd Good Time Days Celebration; June 12-14, 2020
This softball tournament will be unlike any other you will have ever played or seen before. It is going to be a different and FUN experience!
Prior to each game, team captains will witness a dice rolled by the umpire. Whatever number (1-6) it lands will be game rules. A coin toss will then determine home team. Below are rules 1-5 (6 will come from suggestions from you).
*Women who participate will be able to hit from either side of the plate all tournament. Only men have to follow the left/right rules in games below.
If pregame “Roll of the Dice” is a 1
*Batters hit left-handed odd numbered innings and right-handed even numbered innings.
1-1 Count. No Courtesy. 1-Home Run limit per game (then an out).
To score a runner must first touch 3rd base, followed by 2nd and 1st before reaching home safely.
2-2 Count. No Courtesy.
Home run automatically ends an inning and returns your total team score to zero (0). For example, if it’s the 6th inning and you are leading 15-7 and someone on your team hits a home run, you return to zero (0). Your team would then be losing 7-0. Only balls hit over the fence are considered a home run.
Mushball. Bigger/softer ball used and fielders are not allowed gloves. Men hit with wood bats; women may hit with aluminum. *Batters hit opposite-handed in the 4th-inning.
1-2 Count. No Courtesy. Unlimited home runs.
Unlimited Arc for men (6-12 for women). 1-Home run per game (then an out).
1-2 Count. No Courtesy.
Wood bat game. *Batters hit left-handed first time through the order and right-handed second time through the order before they can hit whichever way they choose for the remainder of the game.
1-1 Count. No Courtesy. Unlimited home runs.
Ridiculous rules to come from feedback from people like you! Please contact us to submit your ideas for consideration! To be announced May 1.
Only 9 players play the field; may hit up to 12 batters (no pinch hitters).
15-run rule after 3-innings; 12 runs after 4; 10 runs after 5.
$125 Entry Fee if paid by May 31 to “City of Boyd” ($200 starting June 1). Winning team umps first round game; then ASA umps provided. Full payout after ump fees. Hit your own balls. Additional information to be posted closer to June.
All games will be 6 or 7-innings, depending on the number of teams. If any game starts more than 10 minutes late, games will be reduced by 1-inning until tournament gets back on schedule.
Women who score a run will have each of their runs scored as two runs (may not pinch run to have runs count as double). There are no rules on how many men or women can be on a team (or rules on batting order). You can have mostly (or all) men, mostly (or all) women, or any combination of men/women. This tournament is designed to be accepting of men/women playing together and if you feel there is a discrepancy – please Contact Us so we have “better” rules to keep the competition even when we announce “Roll of the Dice” Rule #6.
