I would like to meet with our kids Friday, May 15 starting at 4:30 (Memorial Field).
I understand Chase/Ryker have JV but hope they can make it later. Jack still has St. Mary’s ball. Jett will need to leave early.
I would like our kids there because it would be beneficial for us to watch the game together. I would like to point out what varsity kids on both teams do well, what they do wrong, etc.
Montevideo is one of the best AA teams in State. They have a star player I want everyone to watch and observe (Griffin Epema). He’s one of the best players in Minnesota but he does many things well that takes no talent in terms of understanding baseball. Their team is well coached and there will be plenty examples of “teachable moments”.
I am also going to tentatively plan for our first practice to be after school Wednesday, May 20 at Memorial Field. Mr. Pope is going to let me know if varsity is going to practice that day. If they do, our practice will be at 5:45. If they don’t, we will practice at 3:30.
Redwood Gopher State 14U AA Qualifier: Sunday, June 7
Pool 1, Game 1: 8:30 a.m. Redwood/Granite
Pool 2, Game 1: 10:15 Belle Plaine/NLS
Pool 1, Game 2: Noon Atwater/Granite
Pool 2, Game 2: 1:45 Morris/Belle Plaine
Pool 2, Game 3: 3:30 Morris/NLS
Pool 1, Game 3: 5:15 Redwood/Atwater
Championship Game: 7:00
Two game guarantee; pool winners play a third game if they reach the championship.
All games are 6-innings (unless inclement weather). No new inning will start after 1 hour and 35 minutes (every inning will be finished) in pool play. There is no time limit in the Championship Game.
Pool Play Winner(s)
If you go 2-0 in pool play, you win. Ties are allowed. No extra-innings (even if there’s time).
If everyone in pool play goes 1-1, the tiebreaker rules are as follows:
*Fewest runs allowed (if 3 teams are tied, there is no head-to-head tiebreaker).
*Best run differential (cannot exceed +10 per game).
*If there’s still a tie re: run differential, each coach will choose one player/coach/parent and that person will throw 1 pitch to 1 player from the mound. Whatever player hits the ball the farthest from home plate – their individual team wins and advances. Yes – there’s pressure on whoever throws and hits!
Run Rule: 12 after 3; 10 after 4; 8 after 5
Each team is responsible for providing two new baseballs for their first game and then only one new baseball and one gently used baseball for each game after.
Pitchers can only pitch a total of 6-innings on the day. Those innings can be used in one or two games. No pitcher may pitch in 3 different games. One pitch in an inning constitutes a full inning pitched. Once a pitcher has pitched in a singular game, they may not re-enter that game. No exceptions.
